A Message From Our President, Caitlyn Mason:
Sisters, alumnae, and prospective members, WELCOME to the Eta Phi Chapter of Delta Gamma at New York University! I am the current president, Caitlyn Mason, and I am so excited to share with you what our chapter of Delta Gamma is all about.
Delta Gamma was founded in Oxford, Mississippi, in 1873 by just three collegiate women. Since then, our international fraternity has grown to include over 260,000 initiated members and 220 alumnae groups (and counting!). The objectives of Delta Gamma Fraternity are to foster high ideals of friendship, promote educational and cultural interests, and create in each other a true sense of social responsibility and the best character qualities.
Delta Gamma Eta Phi works each day to achieve these expectations. Eta Phi was founded at NYU in 2016. In just these (almost) 10 years, our sisterhood, hours of service, and involvement at NYU and around NYC have grown immensely. The community we have created at NYU is one of compassion, talent, humility, character, and undeniable love for one another. Delta Gamma sisters have a reputation on campus for their strong sisterhood and genuine friendships, lifting each other up as they navigate college and life in the big city.
When I first joined Delta Gamma during my freshman year, I had no idea I would find such an incredible community of women. I was nervous (yet excited) and a bit skeptical of the sorority process. As soon as I met the women of Eta Phi, all my worries disappeared, and only the excitement remained. Joining Eta Phi was the best decision I could have made. These women have pushed me to my fullest potential in my time here at NYU. Through the sisters of Eta Phi, I have found support, kindness, advice, academic support, and an authenticity that is hard to find at such a large school. Through weekly chapters, movie nights, study sessions, and weekend trips, my time with my sisters has shaped me into the woman I am today. Eta Phi women come from countless backgrounds, majors, interests, and goals, but all come together to celebrate and help each other to our fullest potential. I cannot imagine my life in college without these fantastic women, and I am so honored to be in this community.
As president, my ultimate goal is to make all my sisters feel accepted, heard, and encouraged in DG and beyond I aim to lead by example and create an uplifting community that finds and encourages strength in every woman who wears our badge. I hope to continue our culture of hard work, responsibility, and kindness in as many ways as possible. I am so excited to see what the women of this chapter are capable of this year, and I can’t wait to meet our new sisters who will join!
